LOCATIONS

Welcome to Mendo TO GO (Oakland), a hidden gem nestled at 5333 Adeline St Unit K6, Oakland, CA 94608. This delightful spot reimagines the traditional menu of Mendocino Farms, serving up fresh and flavorful salads and sandwiches in a vibrant ghost kitchen setting. Although the dining experience differs from the full-scale restaurant, the quality of the dishes is anything but compromised. Let’s delve into what makes this eatery a must-try in the bustling atmosphere of Oakland.

Mendo TO GO shines with its focus on fresh ingredients and eclectic flavor combinations. The Baja Green Goddess chicken adobado salad is a standout—a harmonious blend of roasted corn, hatch chiles, black beans, and a medley of greens, all drizzled with a rich Baja goddess dressing. For those seeking a vegetarian option, the Impossible chorizo swap adds an equally tantalizing twist.

  • Customer Favorite: Jayla B. praises the Chinese Chicken Salad, highlighting its fresh, flavorful nature and creamy miso mustard dressing that brings each bite to life.

The sandwich selection is equally impressive. If you're in the mood for something hearty, the Peruvian Steak Sandwich delivers a punch with spicy aji amarillo sauce and rich Oaxacan cheese, all nestled in a toasted potato roll. And don’t overlook the vegan option of the Banh Mi, showcasing baked salt & pepper tofu paired perfectly with crisp pickled veggies and vibrant Thai basil.

  • Complement Your Meal: Try the delicious Dill Pickle Chips, which are a crowd-pleaser—crunchy, tangy, and bursting with dill flavor—a perfect sidekick to any sandwich.

With a few notable quirks, such as a somewhat confusing pickup process—typical for ghost kitchens—customers are treated to a variety of culinary delights worth the effort. While some may find the setup unusual, many agree that the freshly prepared meals justify any inconvenience.

For those who appreciate healthy eating, Mendo TO GO offers plenty of options. From the Winter Citrus & Goat Cheese Salad featuring tangy goat cheese and honey roasted almonds to the Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada, each dish is a colorful, nutrient-rich escape that doesn't skimp on flavor.

In summary, Mendo TO GO (Oakland) serves as a refreshing addition to the local culinary scene, blending innovative flavors with health-conscious choices. If you’re nearby, give them a call at (510) 550-8112 and prepare for a delightful meal that reinforces Mendocino Farms' commitment to freshness and quality, right in the heart of Oakland.

This place actually has some red wine. Good sandwiches and soup and salads. Decent service. Order your food first and then sit down. Indoor and outdoor seating. Quite ambiance.

I've gotten takeout here a few times. My favorite is the quinoa kale salad with added chicken. Very healthy and filling. Once they forgot my chicken but I got a refund for that part. Order can take a bit of time to get ready because it is a ghost kitchen and they get a LOT of orders from people and delivery apps so just be patient. Prices are fair, I love the quinoa kale salad with chicken, haven't tried other items besides that one but I'm always happy with it :)

I was craving Mendocino farms and this place hit the spot. This place is not an actual Mendocino farms, only a pick up ghost kitchen called Longfellow. I ordered online directly through the Mendocino Farms website and got a text telling me when my order was being prepared and when my order was ready. This pick up place is pretty confusing as there is no parking right in front (curbside) but there is a parking lot across the street. When you get inside, there are iPad scanners that you can put your phone on and it will read your order but the iPads seem to be more for delivery app drivers who get the order directly from the locker. I ordered on the Mendocino website, so I had to pick up at the counter, which would be fine if there was someone working the counter. I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I could catch someone's attention from the other side of the locker. The food itself does taste like Mendocino Farms food, but I think what makes Mendocino farms good is the experience & drinks suck as the cherry coke or Agua Frescas. I would recommend going to a store if you can but this place tastes good too. What I ordered: - Peruvian Steak Sandwich: This was amazing served warm. I love the spicy aji amarillo sauce and the cheese. It is full of flavor. - Sweet Heat Thai Chicken Sandwich: This sandwich came cold but I think it was meant to be served cold. However, it is not very good cold and didn't have much flavor. The pickeled daikon and carrot also didn't add any banh mi vinegar/tart flavor either. Overall a pretty bland sandwich. - Beets and Faro salad: This salad was so good and had great flavor! Could barely tell it was vegetables! - Dill Pickle Chips: The best chips you can get to pair with sandwiches. Sweet and Vinegary with ample dill flavor. Overall, good place to grab dinner but for the price, go to the restaurant if you have the time.

I had never been to Mendocino Farms, but I saw a promotion at WeWork and decided to give it a try. If I ordered any item, I would get a free entree. Since I live alone and didn't have dinner plans with a friend, I just ordered an entree and a dessert. I chose the Peruvian Steak Sandwich on a toasted potato roll, added avocado, and also got the Flourless Chocolate Bomb Cookie. The relatively small cookie seemed a little expensive ($2.85) on its own, but it was really good, and it earned me the free sandwich. After tax, my total was just $3.14. When I arrived to pick up my order, I realized this was not a Mendocino Farms -- it was a ghost kitchen. This definitely made me question my decision, but by that point it was too late. Thankfully, the sandwich was very tasty. I'm still not a fan of ghost kitchens, but I'll at least give this one credit for an enjoyable meal.

Mendocino Farms is cloud kitchen in the Longfellow Food Pickup facility in North Oakland. This is ghost kitchen, not an actual restaurant. Their menu consists of sandwiches, salads, vegan, meal combos, sides/soup, and drinks. The other day I ordered a "Chimichurri Steak & Bacon" sandwich on a toasted sesame roll. It's a not a huge sandwich, maybe 8-9." It's just right for lunch at $12.85, with no add-ons. This is a nice meaty sandwich, loaded with savory flavor. The sandwich is made with sliced steak and bacon, with marinated red peppers, caramelized onion jam, chimichurri, shredded romaine, and herb aioli. The sesame roll is toasted, and travels well as takeout. Ideally, you should pickup at 5333 Adeline, and not pay the delivery fees. There's a parking lot across the street.
